Troubleshooting

The system does not record.

If you only see “/” in the information box on the top left of the display screen, the Recording Directory does not have a designated hard drive.

First, the hard drives must be formatted and ready to be used, and the drive letter designated for the hard drive cannot be “C”.

Once the hard drive is ready, go to Setup then Rec. Dir.  Click Auto button to set the directory automatically, or click “…” to manually choose a location (excluding “C”).

The system keeps rebooting.

First, check the jumper settings on the DVR.

When installing One DVR Board, the setting should be on Master (UP).  If multiple DVR Boards are installed, One should be the Master (UP) and the rest should be Slave (DOWN).

The system should be shut down and restarted when changing the jumper settings.

If the problem still continues, enter Windows in Safe Mode.

Uninstall the DVR program by going to Start, DVR, and Uninstall.

Next, go to C: drive then Program Files.  Delete the DVR folder.

Restart the system in Normal Mode.

Reinstall the DVR program by inserting the Lexion DVR CD and selecting the correct DVR model.

Follow the directions on the screen.  Restart when finished.

In display mode, the cameras show GREEN.

If the screen appears as shown on the right, or the camera images skip or rotate irregularly, the problem may be the VGA (graphics) card.

Make sure the VGA Card is ATI chipset and that correct driver has been installed.

To check, go to Control Panel, and then open System.  Go to the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.

Look in Display adapters and right-click on the video device and choose Properties.

Make sure the device is working properly and the latest driver has been installed.

The Picture is distorted, fuzzy, and/or has static.

There are several causes that can result in poor pictures.

·         Interference from electrical currents- Make sure that the path from the camera to the DVR system does not have any devices that may emit electrical currents that may disrupt video signals.

Switching to a twisted pair (UTP) wire with baluns may reduce interference.

·         Camera/cable malfunction- Check that the camera and the cable connecting it to the system are working properly by testing it individually.

·         Wrong video system- The video system (NTSC/PAL) should be set to NTSC for monitors/TV in the US.  Check the setting by going to Setup then System.  Under Resolution, use the drop down menu to set the resolution.
