Should I install Virus
Protection?
If the system will be connected to the Internet for Remote
Viewing, the system should be installed with Virus Protection. We recommend ViRobot, which can be found at www.hauriusa.com. We do NOT recommend Norton AntiVirus.
It is strongly advised that the DVR system should not be
used as a regular personal computer. It
should not be used to check e-mail, surf the net, or other functions that will
cause the DVR system to malfunction.
The system should be designated to its DVR functions only.
If the system will not be connected to the Internet, then
there is no need for a virus protection.

How much Hard Drive space do I
need?
The amount of disk space taken depends on the amount of activity the camera observes. More movement equals to more data being recorded.
Recording quality and resolution also effect disk space usage. Higher the quality and resolution, higher amount of disk space used.
On average, 100 Gb on a 16-channel 120-frame system will last 5 days. 100 Gb on a 4-channel 30-frame system should last about 15 days.
Tips on increasing the amount of recorded hours:
Adjust the Schedules on the cameras.
·
Go to Setup then Schedule. Set as many days/hours on Motion
detected recording or if no surveillance is needed, turn the cameras off on
those hours.
Lower the Recording Quality.
·
Go to Setup then Cameras. Adjust the recording speed by using the
slider for each camera.
·
Go to Setup then Rec Quality. Choose the cameras to adjust and click Space
Saving box to reduce recording quality while reducing disk space used.
Reduce the Resolution.
·
Go to Setup then System.
Under Resolution, adjust to lower setting.
Can I substitute Nvidia based
graphics card instead of ATI?
We only recommend ATI Radeon chipset graphics cards
because it supports overlay. If you
would prefer to use Nvidia or any other video card, make sure it supports
overlay.
Even with overlay, Lexion does not recommend video cards
that are not ATI based.

How can I add a 2nd Monitor to
the system?
Lexion DVR Boards come with a TV-Out RCA plug that can
easily be plugged into a television.
The video will show one channel at a time in rotation. The number of camera and the rotation rate
can be adjusted by going to Setup then Cameras.
To view multiple channels, or to set up a monitor that is
identical to the “Main” screen, the 2nd monitor should be attached
to the video card.
To connect via S-Video out:

First, attach the system to monitor. An S-Video to RCA converter may be needed
depending on the monitor.
Next, right-click on Desktop and select Properties. Or, go to Start, Control Panel,
then Displays.
Go in to Settings, then Advanced to open the
Plug and Play window from ATI.
Select the Display Tab, and turn ON the TV monitor.
(Note: When connecting a monitor that is remotely located (100 ft plus), a video extender may be needed to provide a clear picture.)
To connect via one VGA and one DVI connections:
Both monitors should be display identical images when
plugged in. If not, go to Display
Properties as shown above.
Go to Settings, select the #2 monitor and uncheck “Extend
my Windows desktop…” box.
Other Options:
A video splitter may be used to split the video signal
into multiple VGA outputs. It may also
be used for connecting remotely located monitors depending on the model.
